Default NRI -- National Radio Institute -- dead

When I was a kid, I remember my dad using GI Bill money to go through
the NRI National Radio Instititute courses.

Recently I thought it might be fun to go through a modern course like
that.

Alas, NRI went out of business several years ago.

Does anyone know of any good radio/electronics correspondence courses
to take these days? I don't care at all about "accredidation[sp?]" --
it's purely for my own learning's sakes.

CIE - Cleveland Institute of Electronics "may" still be out there. They had
a couple programs I believe. I have what appears to be a complete course
from them minus maybe some of their kits. I got it from someone who went
through their training. Very nice books. "I" went through NRI and it too was
ok. I've had electronics training before NRI and since then. Check E-Bay,
often there are many books from NRI up for bid which cover a great deal of
"beginning" electronics.

Another big one in the old days was De Forest Training, by DeVry.
DeVry is still in business as a for-profit resident tech school, but I
don't know whether they still offer correspondence courses.
