thats an oppinion, but my experiences are completely other ones.
I use this rig since 3 years every with no problems in the car,
winter and summer. maybe you got a bad one: "a monday product".

Most folks tried to cram these radios into small cubby's or under seats,
then complained when they didnt handle the heat well.
Mine has been working fine for years.
