BEWARE...ANOTHER SCAM ATTEMPTED

I just recieved a reply to an ad to sell my Kenwood TS940SAT that I have
listed on qth.comfor $725 + Shipping.

A man identifing himself as "John Daniels" from London England
offered to buy it but stated that a debtor of his living in the US
would send me a check in the amount of $5,000.00. He stated that I was to
cash the check and deduct the price of my radio and shipping and foreward
him the radio as well as the ballance of the $5,000
buck's....
I might have been born at Night however it wasn't last night.
I just wanted to give everyone a head's up on this guy.
tnx

Gee maybe it's "Jack Daniel's" evil brother!!! ????

Classic scam. Good thinking!

Should have told him to send the check and just not sent the rig. Then you'd
have some paper to show for being on the ball and to give to the FBI.

Hell, I would have agreed to that in a hurry. Let him send the check, then
sit on your ass for at least 6 weeks, then if its all ok, mail the rig to
the guy, then wait another 6 weeks, and if nothing still, mail him the
remainder of the money as agreed.

I have always wondered, with these guys, you get the check, cash it, and
never give them anything, steal from them the same way they steal from the
people that they got the money from.... then he sent you a "gift"... wonder
if that would be illegal too???

You obviously don't get it ... the check is bogus!!!!! By the time your
bank finds out and gets back to you, you have sent the other guy his cash,
your radio, and now you have to stand tall for the bogus check!

The bank will credit your account and in the worst case make you wait 10
business days to use the money. It may take them three weeks to find out
that the check is funny so even if you wait the ten days to send the guy
"his" money .. you be the fool!

i have a great time with these clowns. i have a wall full of their
counterfeit cashiers checks. its fun to play their email back and
forth game with them. it also costs them some serious$$$ to send the
counterfeit check via fed ex next day. if we all did that they would
eventually go away 73 paul w8jn

Another spin off of that is the "Nigerian Diplomat" letter. I always
respond (to my wife's chagrin) by asking them to call me at once. The phone
number provided is that of our local police department's seven digit
administrative desk. Figure they must call via satellite or at least
overseas rates. If we all did that (perhaps to dial a prayer?), it would
become expensive for them to seek out the real suckers.

Worrysome thing is that the scam must still work. I get two or three a week
so they must still be catching someone with it. "Pigs get fed while hogs
get slaughtered".
