I can't believe I actually supported you in all the attacks Brucie and Dan
hit ya with

Hmm.. I never really paid too much attention to those threads. Were you there?

So what now... .a clear definition as to what defines a radio? Ham gear
only? Can someone sell a clock radio? Hell... technically speaking a
television even has the equivalent of a radio reciever in it.

Let's see: rec.radio.swap - From my understanding, it's for the selling/buying
of amateur radio related gear.

The greater concern I would have about the posting is that it is
way-overpriced for a used lightbar.

The guy should post it on Ebay. Someone will pay a silly price for it.

The concept of people who might also be
buying the commercial gear being some of the same people that might buy that
lightbar is probably why the guy posted it in the first place.

I wear underware. Perhaps someone should sell that here as well.

What's the point in all the bickering back and forth? All this over a dude
trying to sell a jetstream lightbar. So what if he wanted too much for it? I
see a lot of posts on here that people want too much for something. It
happens. We all live with it. Besides, if someone isn't interested in a
lightbar, they're not required to read the post, right??? my software doesn't
automatically make me read every post on this NG...

Speaking as someone who's been repairing radios for about 9 years now, and
reading this group for about 4 years, I'm not very interested in the amateur
side of this group, I look more for the motorola / kenwood commercial
stuff...does that mean I get offended when I see the posts for all the amateur
stuff? no, I just don't read them. Do I read all the posts for HF rigs and
other amateur stuff? no. But that's the whole thing about this group. There's
a lot of folks who read this group that are firefigheres, emt's, etc. who are
in to radios; both amateur and commercial, who may be interested in a lightbar
or siren here and there. big deal. Tolerance is a virtue.

My 2 cents worth

Thomas

Motorola and Kenwood commercial gear is appropriate because that is "radio"
(rec.RADIO.swap) gear.

a lot of folks who read this group that are firefigheres, emt's, etc. who are

And since there are "a lot of folks" who may be into Comic/Trading card

Let me see: "light-bar" I only have a HS diploma, but I do not see "radio" in there
anywhere. May be I need new glasses... I need to look and see what is in
rec.light-bar.swap, do radios get listed there?

Ok, so its a free country and you can post what you want. But back to my two original
questions: whats a wig-wag? and a take-down?

Larry Johnson wrote:

Mike - welcome to rec.radio.swap.

Most light bars have a speaker for the RADIO and/or P.A., or at least a
place for one. I guess that makes it a speaker cabinet. Last I looked,
radio accessories like speakers and cabinets were allowed here.....

You still screwed up. You can't sell trading cards on a .swap forum, only
trade, sorry.
And technically, it is rec.radio.swap.... why is everyone wanting MONEY for
their stuff?
That would be rec.radio.forsale

heh...

What's the point to all this?

Mike - radio ACCESSORIES get listed here, too. Speakers, keys, mics,
tuners, parts, etc......

Take a look through some of the archives for the last few years.

You'll figure it out, it's not too hard.

Welcome to the internet and rec.radio.swap....

Alrighty... I did say that I was done with this thread BUT, will answer this
one. Wigwags are the term given to lights alternating from left to
right.... on and off. I am sure that either on a real emergency vehicle
like a cop car, or whatever that you might have seen this either in real
life or on tv. It just alternates flashing left to right.

Takedowns are referring to white lights, like headlights, on a lightbar that
enhance the scene in front of your vehicle. When cops are pulling someone
over, they want to be able to see as much as possible at night or times of
compromised lighting.

No, Andy - go back and read thee thread again. You can do it.

Again, a light bar usually has an external speaker for a 2-WAY RADIO
built into it.....

pamme (VHFRadioBuff) wrote in message ...
Because some of us that are into radio equipment are into the same thing,
even though he has this lightbar way overpriced for a used lightbar. I'd
give him $150 for it though....

So if a ham is possibly "into" antique toy cars, I can post a FS ad for that?

No, Andy - NOT just amateur radio gear.. Ham, CB, Shortwave,
microwave, FM & TV DX'ing, accessories, antennas, etc.......

Hope this helps you understand a little better now...

Then don't buy it. Was he twisting your arm???

You evidently haven't priced new ones lately (I have - we'll be
ordering about 70 new ones for early 2004).

The guy should post it on Ebay. Someone will pay a silly price for it.

Last I checked, he wasn't restricted from using rec.radio.swap
You could use filters, if you don't like his posts.

The concept of people who might also be

It's spelled underWEAR.
