As someone who now has one of these antennas laying in a heap in his yard, if you're in an area prone to high winds, I'd think twice. The antenna was a fine functioning one, but upon an evening of 45-60mph wind gusts, and a year in the air, it crumpled. From looking at it, I'd say their cost savings comes from a cheaper fiberglass tubing on the exterior. john |
Hell it is all cheap Chicom crap!
Antenna Warehouse wrote: Hello John, The one you bought back on 05/06/02 is not one of the current models that we are selling. Sometime back when it was brought to our attention that the former models of these antennas had wind survivability problems we changed manufactures. The new manufacture is providing much heavier duty units that do not exhibit the same problem. The former models came from he http://www.ningbo-export.com/prosound The current models are coming from he http://www.greaterland.com If you'll gather up the pieces of the damaged one from the heap and send them back to us along with a copy of your sales receipt we will see if we can get it replaced for you. Hell it is all cheap Chicom crap! For the record, http://www.greaterland.com is not a "Chicom" product, as you indicate. It is a company in Taiwan, a Democratically governed company. Ed |

If ignorance is bliss, then is he euphoric?? I'm not saying......I'm just saying.... Please don't feed the trolls Understood, but I have similar feelings as this "Troll" does. Just wanted to make the facts clear in that the one Amateur product supplier mentioned was not in Communist China. I try to buy my amateur radio gear made in USA but it is tough to compete prices with the great stuff from the East. Ed WB6SAT |
The borders are open, you could always go there for good.

I just failed last week, figured 'buyer beware' and It was tough bananas for me. I'd be elated if something could come of it. For the record, the mounting portion, ground plane, and bottom of the center element are still in the mount, and it works wonderfully recieving uhf..lol But upon inspecting what lay in the yard, it looked like little more than a glorified cardboard tube. :( Glad to hear you've improved the product, and you'll be hearing from me before the new year. Mark,
For around $60, you can get a decent new antenna. I have the Anli-A100 (http://www.anli.com/Webpage/wP7.html). Very sturdy, well built antenna. I got mine from Advanced Specialists (http://www.advancedspecialties.net/) I'm not affiliated, just a satisfied customer. Tom - AC9TS "M.M." wrote in message ... Looking for a 2M/70cm base antenna. I'll second Tom's opinion of the Anli A100. It's a superbly made antenna and
performs much better than the Cushcraft AR-270 it replaced. Jon "Tom S" wrote in message ... Mark, For around $60, you can get a decent new antenna.
