I like a AM radio for xmas, which one should I get?
 

I see all those ad's for AM radios, is there one recommended over others.
Maybe the AM thing is just a hoax, and they don't work better the regular
radios. Maybe a good antenna will work as well in AM reception, but I need
help, I don't know. Any help is appreciated......Peter I also got a Sirius
Satellite radio, and have not yet figured it all out yet. I'm getting it to
play though. It was meant for the car, but I use it at home. I'm not sure if
AM radio reception is available but I will read again soon. I'm too old to
do too many things at once now....

Get a General Electric SuperRadio III. It is generally considered to
be one of the very best AM radios available. The model number is
72887. It is available on the Internet for as little as $35. It
doesn't have a digital dial to save on the batteries. Runs on D cells
or A/C. I have the earlier SuperRadio II radio, and would never part

Most DX'ers favor the GE Superadio I and II over the III,
but they are still highly regarded.

The Realistic TRF (AM only) is also a favorite with AM band
DX'ers. I have one and love it.

The SuperRadio 2 and 3 are both great. Nice audio quality, long
battery life, tuned RF stages and a decent size ferrite rod antenna.

If you want to do AM DXing make a tuned loop antenna. Try an internet
search for the phrase or check the National Radio Club (AM DXer's
association) at http://www.nrcdxas.org/

Tuned loops are easy to make and cheap, $10. Try a 2 foot square
loop for starters.

Many thanks for all the kind responses. I guess with all the replies I got,
the SuperRadio is the best. The price is too good to be true...... I got to

Well, I mentioned the Am radio to one of my kids, guess what I got on the
table today, a CC Radio plus. I hope that the radio is a good one in the
eyes of this nice group. Let me know what you guys think........Peter
