Why so much FA ?

Why so much Ebay crap ?

Its almost impossible to buy anything these days.
Anybody read their privacy policy, who are "partners" and "friends" ?
Promises at the top of the agreement are waived in the fine print, not to
mention Ebay reserves the right to make changes at will.

The biggest reason for all of the FA is that most things that are posted here
are not selling privately, so people are posting them on eBay and Yahoo for
sale at auction, which appears to have a much greater audience...

It doesn't have much to do with the fine print of the eBay or any other
auction arena, it has to do with basic economics...

Ebay is fun for people that get auction fever, and of course to those
that sell to them. They don't mind paying almost new price or over.

All we have to do is wait, and it will settle down. In the meantime I
either buy new with a warranty, or at a hamfest, where I can see and
touch the equipment. And if it isn't at a good price, I keep walkin.

Agreed Mike
Hamfest is cool but most of these geezers must start them at 8-9AM in the
morning...its crazy !!
Dont like the "new and improved" VCR plastic + surface mount gear...I like
it "old and crappy" as well as standard home workbench fixable.
Guess I have to keep greasing the guys at the local landfill, they found me
an R-391 and HP spectrum scope last week. It only cost me cost me 4 cases of
Bud and everybody's more then happy.
The Tek 531 works fine now, the rectifier tubes had fallen out of the
sockets and broke

I fail to understand why there are so many complaints about FA items. I have
bought and sold many thousands of dollars worth of equipment on E-Bay and there
is a lot more honesty and trust there than most of the individual deals in the
NG's. At least there is a reliable reporting system for all who choose to view
and use it...

So, stop your winning and enjoy our lovely free country, or better yet go buy
something on E-BAY!!!

Good day!! To all~~~

Some folks just have nothing better to do with their lives than to complain.
I know, I complain too.. but usually it's about things that actually affect
ME. I think ebay's a great place to find stuff that just isn't seen anywhere
else. Yes, I've sold stuff there, too.. but I don't advertise it in the
NG's.. I will offer the stuff here first, though, before sending it to 'the
bay'.

Well -- on e-Bay you can find items you won't find elsewhere.
Example - just bought a Zenith 1952 AM table model tube radio in excellent
condition. My folks owned this model in the 50's.
It had new capacitors, all tubes checked and replaced, several parts
replaced, and a complete alignment.
Works and sounds great.
Price $60 -- hey that's the cost of the repairs made on it !!!
My local antique radio shop had a beat up sample for $75

Another example -- for YEARS I hunted for a Kenwood grid dip meter -- found
it on E-bay -- rare bird and built like a tank - beautiful
with all coils and original box -- Price was half the cost of the new price.

Another example -- On a local golf course -- I saw a guy with a golf putter
made from Oregon myrtlewood -- great workmanship and a real golf
conversation piece-- local shops sed WHAT is myrtlewood?
Found on e-bay

Another example - my Mother in law was a WWII Navy nurse - commissioned
officer. She had only one collar insignia -- found one on e-bay, now part of
the family genealogy file. Priceless

Well you get the idea -- free enterprise at its best.

I don't mind the FA posts, it's the idiots who post "FOR SALE" and
then link to a eBay auction.
