It's an audio DSP noise filter. For instance, it provides random noise
reduction and auto-notch filters. These help get rid of backgound noise and
heterodynes (squeals). You place the fletr between you receiver and an
outboard speaker or computer sound system.

From www.timewave.com web page:

DSP-9+

The DSP-9+ uses digital signal processing technology to provide optimum
filters for random noise reduction, heterodyne elimination and bandpass
filtering. Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology provides superior
performance in reducing QRM and QRN.

It works on the audio signal before it gets to your speaker and does a
fair job.

I have an MFJ (Analog Devices engine, AFAIK) DSP. While it does
reduce noise it doesn't enhance the ability to ID a station. It is
kind of cool for taking the tones off WWV.

These things really shine when using the digital modes, so I'm told.
