Are the "Ribless cables being sold on line safe to use with the radio's?
I have a rib, but most of the aftermarket cables I see are ribless, any
thoughts?

I bought a jedi cable like that for $24 from Ebay - works fine. The
little but of TTL conversion guts is housed in the oversized db9 plug....

Here's a thought: its just another path to easy money for Hong Kong Phooey
and his clan.
Steer clear of those ebay aftermarket chinese ribless cables. Period.
Especially on newer radios.
Some folks have great stories to tell, some have horror stories.
You take your chances.... maybe you're a great story, maybe you're a horror
story. It's your radio, do what you want.

Rib and cable is the lesser of the evil paths to go if you are trying to
save money with aftermarket junk.

Advice? Get a genuine moto rib, build or buy your own quality cable and
you'll be fine for anything you try to program.
good luck!
