Another method is to just scan a band until you find another ham calling

As ham radio is about 2 way radio, people need agreements, formal or
informal,
as to where to do what mode. Otherwise it starts sounding like CB...
And no,
despite no code licenses and "extra lite" licensees, ham radio doesn't
sound anything
like CB except for a few spots (14313) and even that is by informal
agreement.
