When did President Reagan ever make such a statement?

It's not a quote, Steve. It's a general idea that was front-and-center in
Reagan's campaign and administration.

Remember the theme "Morning in America" from his campaign? Remember yuppies?
"Supply side economics"?


So...

Promoting consumer confidence and spending (witch ultimately drives the
economy) was wrong?
