That must be the way the "new" U.S. ham radio is...a bunch of
angry radio users wanting to FIGHT anyone who doesn't agree
with them. Not for me. Must be why I haven't gotten an amateur
license after so long as a professional in radio-electronics.

And they worried about the unwashed getting into amateur radio.

I would imagine that ham radio is a fun activity. But, forbidden
to talk about it (one of the radio gods says "I'm not involved!"), I
won't speculate. :-)

What all the "boosters" want is fresh, clean minds that can be
easily brainwashed into believing the olde-tymers are the
absolute masters of radio (because they are skilled in morse-
manship). Minimal life experience is required since some
exposure to the adult population will demonstrate those olde-
tymers aren't of such god-like sagacity or nobility as they
pretend to be. Young teen-agers are wanted for that by the
olde-tymers...because that is how They got into it...as
teeners.

Those of adult age are really not wanted by the olde-tymers.
Those olde-tymers have found out (the hard way) that the
olde-tymers aren't worshipped by other adults as gods of
radio...and usually don't come close to such god-hood.
They feel exposed (with some anxiety) when in the company
of those who've had actual radio communications experience
in radio other than amateurism.

Putz is purely an opinion on my part, but one that seems to be well
borne
out.

You wouldn't recognize "well borne out" even it it were your own
father.

'Steve' would be totally ignorant of the world around him if he were
on Fairfax in Los Angeles or Maxwell Street in Chicago. Lots of
Yiddish heard there...sometimes pejoratives are shouted. :-)
