I've tried to influence other people's "quasi-religious belief system"
WRT the Amateur Service Morse Code exams. It just can't be done.
The brainwashing was way too sanitary, practically aeseptic.
Better than an autoclave session done many times.
The
best thing that can be done is to offer a different point of view for
new (and hopefully younger) people forming their own opinions.
Not allowed by the Belief System.
All newcomers (no exceptions) MUST do it like the olde-tymers
did it. Morsemanship at the top of the list. Second, knowing
all the statements of the ARRL by heart, especially the one where
"ham radio would not have survived without the efforts of the ARRL."
Advancing the State of the Art is always around 30 years behind
the rest of the radio-electronics world, excused by "countless"
rationalizations, typically cheapness.
The actuarial tables will take care of the rest of us.
PCTA extras never die. Neither do they fade away. :-)
Actuarial tables don't apply to them.
By Golly it looks like you're finally getting it Sweetums!
