Default Minnesota Public Radio does Real Estate?

Hi, Scanner here...can somebody help me with this?

MPR bought a mansion for 1.6 million, which they plan on renting out(
I read it in Twin Cities Business Journal). Does anybody know how they
did that? Were membership dollars used? It's about as much as they
raised their last pledge drive, so did they really use the money for
this house and not programs as they said they were? What gives?

I'm less than enchanted with MPR these days. Since they decided they
wanted to be a national network like NPR, PRI and Pacifica (my
absolute favorite show is Democracy Now!), they've gotta be making
money hand over fist: a friend of mine in NC says it costs his station
$14,000/year to carry Garrison Keillor. Also, it seems stations now
have to pay MPR some huge fee just to take their shows (Why? Special
equipment?)

Anyway, they always seem to be asking for more money, and yet they're
getting more and more from selling their shows: and now this house
thing. Can anybody explain this to me?
