I'm setting up an Optimod am 9100 B.
I want to set it up to have a lot of punch (compression) and get the
loudest possible audio out of it, while maintaining a clean sound.

wouldnt we all

I
have heard stations with them with aggressive processing that sound
great and I want to mirror that sound.

see if your owner/GM will spring for a 9200

Does anyone have experience setting one up. If so, what settings do
you recommend.
Thanks!

the limiting factor on loudness may well be your transmitter.

make sure the polarity is wired so that postitve produces positive
modulation.

if it is an older unit replacing the electrolytics may be the best idea.

monitor the modulation with an ocilloscope (forget the mod meter) set for no
flatlining at 100% negitive

gain reduction -10 to -15 dB

crank up multiband drive until you cant stand the sound then back it off.

if transmitter blows up: fix transmitter the readjust from "insane" to "less
insane"
