The old mountaintop KBLA / KROQ site (1200 Beaudry Fire Road, La
Crescenta...also known as Mount Thom) consisted of six monopoles,

four in-line
with one on either side. The "shack" was, indeed, underground! By the

time KROQ
returned to the air in 1976, it was a real mess down there. The 10kw

daytime
rig was gone (repossessed, I was told) and only a 1kw Bauer was in

place. Talk
about underground radio...



One of those towers is used by KROQ (FM) to support an auxiliary antenna.

KROQ (FM), under Infinity, is one of its biggest moneymakers in L.A., probably
bigger than the old KFWB (AM).
