England has no distance limit on their 11-meter CB allocation.
They are only allowed to use FM,
True, athough they keep saying they are "testing" SSB and considering
allowing it.
Still, there's nowt wrong with FM... it is less prone to impulse type
interference.
If I had the choice of having two modes for UK CB, it would be FM and SSB.
Forget AM, as FM is great local and SSB is better for distance and
bandwidth.
and they must have a license.
Not for much longer.
There are plans to remove the licence. If it goes ahead, from later this
year, new licences would not be issued but existing licences will be valid
for their full year. Although, existing licences will not be worth the
paper they are printed on - as they would no longer be needed. It's just to
stop people moaning about getting their "money's worth" from the fee paid
just before that date and asking for the unused part of their fee to be
returned.
Really, the "consultation" process is just for show - they must be seen to
be giving people a chance to speak up. Unless someone can give very good
arguments why it should not happen, then the licensing for CB and use of the
old UK only frequencies will be finished.
How did they end CB licensing in America... Did they just stop issuing them,
did existing licences become worthless, or did they phase them out in some
other way?
