Yep - completely forgot. You have a better memory than I do. My post
about telnet though was just to say you can put doubt in a jury's mind and
then be innocent. But if you somehow get hold of the news server logs and
the dslam logs, you should be able to prove where all the incoming and
outgoing traffic came from/to, no? Otherwise, how is the RIAA doing the
big busts now for pirating MP3's? And even if you can't prove without a
shadow of a doubt, you end up with the name/address of the anonymous person
who is ****ing with you online - and isn't that the ultimate goal anyway?
In reality, if you really hated someone on usenet, how much would it cost
to pay some poor soul to drive to that person's house and kick his teeth
into his throat? I bet you can go into a ghetto area and find some poor
person that is 7' tall and 400 lbs. with 24" biceps and offer him $5K and
he could do a real job on the person you hate. That's going just a tad too
far, of course. :-)
