I haven't seen a "local CB shop" since about 1975. I must hang out in

fixing CB's anymore.

Tune to the lower part of the 10M band and you'll hear plenty of them
advertising. There's one that is on rt. 295 in Virginia that can be
heard all over the 6M band with their every-fifteen-minute advertising
message which the broadcast on channel 19 with some sort of mistuned
bandsplatter machine.

I think most of these shops make their money from installation and
modification work more than repair work, but there are quite a few around.
Not like during the CB craze of the seventies at all, but check your local
truckstop.

Indeed, there are still many local CB repair shops to be found. In Northern
Utah (Ogden), there is a repair shop at the Flying J truck stop, and business
has been so good lately that the tech who runs the shop in Ogden has had an
apprentice set up a repair shop at another truck stop about 40 miles north.
Also, whenever the DX rolls into Utah, there are repair shops located in
Oklahoma City and El Paso that can be heard hawking their wares on channel 19.
The local CB shop is still very much alive and well.
