Well then you made no point. I think everyone here is mature enough to
already know it's illegal. I don't recall reading anything in the thread
that said/argued otherwise.
Typically, things are illegal for a reason. I'm still listening to why a
repeater should be illegal on a CB freq....and a car going 100 mph ain't
gonna cut it :-)

This comes from www.copper.com "forums". Apparently, there is a
"repeater"
for the chicken band on the air. The link at the very top has
pictures,
circuitry and everything! Is this not against the law?
.

I've made 11 meter repeaters before. If you stay low keyed, you can
get
away
with it for a very long time. Personally I think it's much better
than
running a bunch of heat to get out and you're not splattering the
crap
out
of your neighbors if you're accessing it from your home. Worked great
with
a
HH too but I had to make the encoder inside a large mobile mic since
I
couldn't fit it into the radio shack hh at the time.

Do you also drive at 100 MPH because it's illegal to do so and you've
done
it before? People who always break the rules are partially responsible
for
yet more being imposed. Rules are made for a reason. And no, it isn't
to
be
broken....

If you're going to use that analogy, then make it a little more
realistic.
Using a repeater on 11 meters is more like driving 5 MPH over the speed
limit. I guess you would rather have folks driving near hospitals with
1200
watt splatter boxes stopping hart monitors just so they can be heard.
-Dr.X
The whole point WAS.... Do you do it because it is ILLEGAL? Driving faster
than the speed limit allows - regardless if 5 or 100, linear amps, etc...
ALL are illegal, so is that why you do it? ANY analogy could be used in
this
case. IF it is illegal, it is illegal - regardless what the situation is
which is against the laws of the land. As for comparing the damage done
in
going 100 mph as opposed to a CB repeater... Maybe there isn't any
comparison in that regard, BUT again BOTH are illegal. No, I wouldn't want
people driving past Hospitals with 1200W splatter boxes, silly statement -
they're not legal anyhow. SO that analogy sucks as bad as you think mine
did. Besides, they won't "stop" a heart monitor. Maybe interfere. A "heart
monitor" won't "stop" the heart, it merely reads the heart rhythm and
allows
the staff to see how the patient is doing. RF in close proximity may
interfere with a Pacer, but I'm not so sure a 1200 watt radio going down
the
road will do it. It is more like Microwave ovens up close, some other
forms
of RF at high density, like Radar System. Cell phones are even thought to
do it - in some cases. I'm sure there are 1500 watt Ham stations within
proximity to some hospitals with no mention of problems. But no matter,
if
you're into illegal operations, nothing anyone else says will sit well
with
you. All I can say is - do it long enough, your turn will come.
