Well then you made no point. I think everyone here is mature enough to
already know it's illegal. I don't recall reading anything in the thread
that said/argued otherwise.
Typically, things are illegal for a reason. I'm still listening to why a
repeater should be illegal on a CB freq....and a car going 100 mph ain't
gonna cut it :-)
Don
Hi M-Tech! How are ya?
Let me see if I can help you with that Don. You see, some hams take offense
when a common "CB'er" does something that might take some intelligence to
do. Most hams don't care that running an 11 meter repeater is illegal. They
care more that a CB'er might enjoy some of the capabilities that should be
reserved for a privileged few. The ego of the more common amateur radio
operator can seriously compete with some of the "channel masters" of the 11
meter band. Many of them break their own arms trying to pat themselves on
the back for being such a smart tech or because they bought such great
equipment. Let a CB'er build his own amp or transmitter and they're ready to
pounce. "Can't let the trailer trash get too smart, nooooo. They might
actually accomplish something. Wouldn't want that to happen."
Anyway, I hope this helps you to understand even a little bit about his
point (aside from "IT'S ILLEGAL!", that is).
