The variable power control on the front panel -is- the power
adjustment pot. If it doesn't work then something else is wrong; i.e,
disconnected, bypassed or broke. There is no other pot -- you presumed
wrongly. In the future it would help to ask the right question instead
of "jumping to conclusions".
