Hello Stevo:

I didn't see any Corona, but I am told that those big stations do have a
Corona at night time. The antennas where badly corroded, offering a
intermittent connection I am sure.

The Top Hats helped a bunch.

Now that sounds more like heavy iron, Jay. Didja get a corona off the
top hat assembly?

Hello Steveo:

Man that reminds me, the mudduck mobile we fixed just the other day.

What a mess.

The 250 amp Leach Naville Alternators only had one V belt driving them
when it had room for two V belts. New Gates Belts where installed. Along
with Mobile 1 Oil, for the high and long key down reveess!

The wiring was as poor as it gets too. We replaced the charpie 10 gauge
wire with, with New Neoprene Multi Strand welding cable 4 gauge, from
the alternator to the transformers.

Taking out the old RG393 and replacing it with 7/8 inch Heliax Coax, was
also a wise choice. We installed new LC Type connectors, and **** canned
the PL-259 / SO 259 connectors.

The antennas where modified with heavier tubing, and top hats, where
added to keep the tips of the antennas from burning off, wooo wee what a
stink!

The 10K Slug in the Bird Wattmeter, says it all being sent to the corner
hard............

Now we be dropping the Maul and gettin them ALL!

3KW Roller Inductor, ok for a driver I guess, it would work, if you
throttled the driver back a few KW. Ok for a mobile but never for a
base.
