Hi That Other George,
Thanks for the note, I'll bet your right. Sounds like you few in Nam? I
rode in Nam, civilian doing things. I remember the dust off's were
slicks. I rode a lot in Hues with guys riding the rails, or the Hughes
fire fly. Brings back memories!
Hope your sitting down for the news I'm about to tell you!!!
George AFB is a civilian parking lot for unused airliners, March only
has a air reserve wing!!! and, MCAR Miramar is closed but they are
talking about basing a chopper wing there!!!

Well Burr back in the day slick meant one of two things, i.e. non-military
and or no guns. Sometimes I flew a slick OV-10 sometimes it was "BEAR",
i.e. as in loaded for, 2 37mm canons, 2.75" rocket puds and mavericks under
both wings. out there where you live you should be getting 29 Palms and
March Air Force base, George Air Force base, MCAS Miramar and Miramar Naval
Air Station. You have gun and bomb ranges all around you, so if I had to
guess i'd say your hearing a guy without a guns.
