Southern Kiwi,

MPT is widespread throughout the country because Tait is the supplier of
most radios in New Zealand. It's a bit like Motorola's stronghold over
America. For many years the only trunked radios Tait made were MPT radios
(because it is an open standard. Now they also manufacture a few LTR
radios as well. Soon they will be releasing an APCO 25 capable digital
radio, but this will not be trunked it will just be plain old digital.

As for where to find the frequencies see if the Communications Authority
has a web site you can search, otherwise have a look through Yahoo for
groups on New Zealand scanning. Apart from that search the trunk bands
for data sounds and see what you recognise.

Over the last couple of years a few Motorola trunk systems have also
started to pop up around New Zealand as well I understand but I don't
really know where they are.

The Yahoo group Trunk Scan Australia does have a few New Zealanders on it
also that may be able to help you with what your looking for.

Brian.

Hi, does anyone know where I can get some info on this?

I would like to know if there is a list of freqs, or even what types of
systems are used here (E1, E2 ED etc)

I have found that a protocol MPT 1327 is in widespread use here, but I'm

not
sure how this relates to E1 E2 etc.

I have found a trunked band freq spread (406-410 mobile & 414-418 base)

but
I'm nut sure which freqs to enter into my uniden 245XLT

Do I just search between these in the normal manner and enter all that I
find??

TIA
