I would add , without knowing the feedline setup,
that TV antennas are generally 300ohm and need a balun to go to 75 ohm
coax...for VHF and UHF work, I would say buy the best low insertion loss
balun you can(not radio shack, search google for hi quality ones!), locate
the lowest NF, highest IP3 pre amp right next to the balun and then just
about any length/type of coax down to the scanner and you will hear a lot!
