I'd appreciate any opinions on the Uniden Bearcat BC796D. Is this about the
best overall desktop in the $500-600 price range?

I had a handheld Bearcat (can't remember the model) several years ago - the
built-in battery overheated and fried the unit about 2 years ago. I
certainly enjoyed it while I had the use of it. At the time, I found myself
listening mostly to commercial (live close to theme parks, etc.) stuff and
air traffic control. Heck, it's ALL fun!

Thinking about asking Santa for this model for Christmas, and thought I'd
run it by you folks first. Thanks in advance for any advise..........
