I am considering the purchase of an Opto Scout. I do not have a receiver
that is Reaction Tune capable. These models appear to be the best thing
going in terms of portable frequency counters/recorders. I thought it would
be interesting to use it to find active frequencies in different areas,
public events, etc. I am looking for opinions--good or bad--regarding
whether these units are worth the money and perform well, or even
alternative units to consider. I noticed the PRO-83 has a similar feature,
but without the ability to record the frequencies.

The 83 wll not automatically record the frequencies, however that's
the difference between a $119 scanner / frequency counter and a $359
counter.

I've been very happy with the 83.
