Hearing the news in English at 1800 from Radio Tanzania Zanzibar on
11734.1

Announcer started off by stating that it was 9 o'clock East African
Time, then news headlines, then the news in full.

This was preceded by the Interval Signal, which I stated yesterday
was a drum beat, but as it turns out it may be a xylophone or
pikisphone, which at times may sound like a drum beat. At any rate,
it's interesting that they have an English news bulletin.

At 1810, the news headlines were read again, then back into Swahili.

What is a pikisphone?

Like a thumb piano, not sure if that's the correct name for the darn
thing, but that's what I've called 'em for years!
