Sangean ATS-909 is the same radio as the DX-398.
Can anybody give me some suggestions and experience with that

receiver, also what did you receive on the receivers you recommend

I do perfer Grundig, Sangean, and ICOM, Drake
Radio Shack is not for the shortwave listener due to their poor
construction
of radio equipment and service , but still a great source to budget
minded and beginning shortwave listeners and intermediate shortwave
listeners.
Oh? Considering that Radio Shack *did* sell Sangean radios
(DX-398 et al), and now sells Grundig, and you say you like
both, I don't understand your statement about poor construction
of Radio Shack receivers.
Of course Icom and Drake (and Kenwood and others) are in a class
well above Sangean and Grundig.
