Try it on batteries..
read the manual briefly.
- I'd just turn it on, walk over to a window, extend the anntenna
put the switch on DX,
try AM ( and have a station ou can tune it to)
try SW ( and a station or two)
try FM
try all the different buttons and switches,
- does it work when you plug it in?
Is the power adaptor OK ??
How does it look ??
It's a good radio, double IF..

Hi again.
You know... The reason for me to bye the radio was a long business
trip which will take more then half a year...
And I'm a regular listener to BBC, using it via internet (Windows
Media Player).
There will be no Internet, where I'm flying.,.
So, I went to the local radio shop yesterday, took both Grundig YB 400
(115$) and Sony SW 35 (99$), paid, loaded with new batteries, went out
of the shop, set on a bench and tested them side by side.
I was not in the least surprised by their quality... Didn't find them
worth the money I paid... Many stations, yes. But drifting greatly.
BBC drifting too...
And actualy both the units acted the same. I gave them back to
consider for a couple of days wheather to bye one or not... If I
deside to bye one - it will be the Sony. It seemed to act as well as
Grund., but it's better built, much smaller, liter, less power
consuming, runs on 3 battaries, much more handy all in all....
But I don't thjink I will go to bye any now...
As I came back home and retried my Tecsun 305 on SW.
I simply felt NO difference in sensibility. BBC was on, clear sound.
And mind that it's only 15$!!!!
Well that's all!
Thanx for the advises anyway
see yah!
