As a former FRG-7 owner, and as a borrower of a Satellit 800
for a few days, I still like the FRG-7 better. I agree with
one poster who did not like the looks of the 800. It was
just not pleasant to use.
I found no lack of sensitivity in the FRG-7. I was not able
to compare the radios side by side. The variable selectivity
on the 800 is a good thing, but not as good as in my now
22 year old Kenwood R-1000.
For a price of $150 to $175, which is what I have seen the
Yaesu receivers actually sell for at hamfests, I think it
is a very good deal.
