Having a little antenna that fits neatly over the dish reduces visual clutter,
I suppose.

For far far away, a separate regular multi element antenna will probably work
better
a rotatable anrray of antennas ; 2 - 4 stacked up will probably work better
still.

but the neighborhood aesthetics police might give you grief.

Somewhere back in Monitoring Times there was an article about this..

I have noticed in town some people put an over the air antenna around the
satellite dish...it fit on top of the dish and covers the edge about halfway
down. How good are these antennas for over the air signals? Is it just for
local tv stations within 20 miles or will it do ok on stations 40-50 miles
away. Work at all for UHF stations? Any info appreciated.
