No, they don't do that. The NSA is in the business of electronic
surveillance.

The CIA has, in the past, hired CW monitors. With the high CW skills of the
Russians and Chinese, I'd bet they still have those CW people.

I'd heard, too, that the US Navy is thinking of restoring CW capability.

Heck, the US Navy tried to hire me at a hamfest back in the 80's. They
wanted me to go to cryptology school. Why? Because I'm so dang fast at
morse code. Thats all they cared about. When they found out how fast I
could go, they tried everything in the book to lure me in. I'm telling
you, the recruiters were drooling at the mouths. They promised me a
grade of E-7 petty officer to start off. But you had to serve a
minimum of 8 years, and I was paranoid to get tied down that long. I
was also paranoid of being stuck in some codebreaker hut out in the
middle of nowhere, or stuck on a stinky ass ship or sub for months on
end. I wished I had gone for it now. I would have retired last year at
the ripe ole age of 45-46, if I served a full 20 years, with a pretty
decent pension. Dumbass mistake I made.. But when you are in your 20's
, you don't always think straight. I was fairly sure I would end up
being a rock star. "no joke" I play geetar and drums...With the path I
ended up taking, I'll be lucky if I ever can afford to retire. I could
probably still be a rock star if I really wanted to, but now I'm too
old to enjoy it. MK
