Default Panasonic Query

Rather odd query, but I have a Panasonic RF-3100 SW receiver and am
thinking of going for a reasonably priced upgrade. Would someone with
some experience using this particular receiver provide me with an idea
of a comparable (performance wise) receiver in today's marketplace?
I'd like to know at what level/$$ to start my search keeping in mind
this initial criteria would be limited to strictly performance issues
(ie. not ergonomics, other features not related to actual receiving
performance). I listen 50/50 BCB/Ute's.

I had an RF-3100 in the early 80's. It was a decent table-top radio for
it's time and was also portable, since it had a handle and could be run
on batteries. The radio that comes to mind as a replacement for your
'3100' is the Grundig Satellit-800, providing you don't mind a larger
radio. It is also portable, having a handle and battery capability. The
'800' will out perform the '3100' in most every way and costs about the
same as the '3100' in today's dollars. I'm sure you'll get more
suggestions but the '800' would be my choice.
