Pretty simple really:

A bad day at work + bitterness at ex-girlfriend who screwed around on me +
lots of tequila = Jenni_is_a_Whore

I've used it for awhile, but I have thought for some time that I need to
come up with something different for more "dignified" enviroments.

BINGO! That was it! I opened up the case and one of the battery

power
wires wasn't connected to the header on the circuit board. I was a

little
worried about opening it up because I've never taken one of my radios

apart
before. But it turned out to be an easy repair. I'm a little

suprised
by
this since I always heard that Drake's service department ws top

notch.
I'll drop them an e-mail today and let them know what happend with my

unit
at their repair facility.

Thanks to all of you for your assistance.

JIAW/Anon,

Remove the back of the GS800M. Check the two wires from the

batteries
to the main circuit board.

IIRC: There is a mechanical interupt/disconnect switch built into

the
External 9VDC Jack on the back of the GS800M; for the ACDC Power
Adapter. There could be a problem with this built-in-switch.

I got my Satellit 800 back from R.L. Drake today with a brand new
encoder.
But now, for some reason, I can't get the damn thing to run off

the
batteries. They are in there correctly (I know I killed a lot of

brain
cells in college, but still...) I had no problems with the

batteries
before
I sent it off. Could Drake have screwed up something related to

the
battery
power supply while fixing the encoder? Also, the "." key is

sticking
a
little bit too, which I also don't remember happening before I

sent
it
off.
Does replacement of the encoder require some work with the keypad?

Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
