Solar flare propogation today(10/30/03)!
This morning at around 9:30 AM central time (USA), I had my ATS-909 tuned to
101.7 FM, which is a station out of Little Rock, Ark., about 75 miles west
of my office. The signal began to fade a bit, so I started swiveling the
antenna around. Lo and behold, the Little Rock signal faded out completely
and suddenly I was listening to a very strong Mexican station. I don't speak
Mexican, but I could tell from the sound effects, music, and the whimsical
banter between the guy and gal that I was listening to a Mexican version of
those annoying "morning zoo crew" type programs. This has got to be due to
the solar flare accurances - I was inside a brick and steel building, with
only the whip antenna. The signal was very strong for most of the time, in
fact it was as strong as the oldies station right here in our own fair city.
After about 30 minutes, the signal went completely away fairly abruptly.
Anyone else have a solar flare related incident on FM?
