Thanks for the response, Jeff. I took a look at the one you directed me to.
Boy, the Uniden and the DX-400 don't look anything alike, but it says right
there in black and white that they are similar. I don't know what to make of
that. I also didn't know Uniden made radios for Radio Shack, but I can't
remember much about the 80's.

Thanks again, Jeff. If anyone else has any experience with the radio, I
would appreciate additional comments.

Harlan

Looking for a review of this radio or comments from those who are

familiar
with it.. Does anyone know of a source of more information on it? When

was
it produced? What did it sell for?

================================================== =========================

I had one of these back in the early 80s . It was a very decent

little radio.
I used it when I traveled. Its performance was very good IMO. Go see
www.dxing.com/rx/cr2021.htm The Uniden at this review is the exact

radio
as the dx 400 except the 400 had a decent analog s meter instead of a bar
graph on the 2021, except for that, its the same radio. RS originally sold

the
400s for 279-289$ range. If you can get one for a good price in good order
Id get it. It didnt have dedicated USB or LSB control, to get either one

you
had to use the bfo knob, but that worked fairly well. It had an antenna

trimmer
control that worked very well to tune signals. Also a 3 position rf gain

sw.
Biggest drawback,, no vfo control, just keypad entry or push button up-
down control.
