I guess my basic question is do I think of "fine German engineering" when I
think of Grundig radios or "fine Chinese engineering"?
In the case of current models like the Sat 800, YB300PE or S-350 -
rather the latter. No idea who actually engineered the YB400, the RF
design at least is rather un-Grundig-ish (a 2nd IF of 455 kHz, that
would rather be typical for SONYs - Grundig always used 450 kHz), though
a number of other details might indicate that it was a co-op production;
well, who knows. The Yachtboy 360 was a typical "contract radio" (i.e.
engineered in Germany, but production outsourced).
