I just picked up a 12 year old Sony 2010 in very very nice condition and
working perfectly. With this radio being 12 years old, how many years of
reliable service should it have left. Thanks for any info. on this
subject...I don't really understand the technical stuff behind these radios
and hope the damn thing can run another 12 years and not even blink, but
perhaps that is wishful thinking???

If electronics are well-designed, and operated consistently below
their rated limits, they'll last for decades.

Example: Two of my O-scopes (Tektronix 7904 and 7904A) were built
in the late 70's and mid 80's respectively. They're both in excellent
shape and working just grand, 20+ years after they each rolled off the
assembly line.

I don't expect them to fail any time soon.
