Rob,

You're right, you'll not only get the frequency displayed when you press
SKIP and a memory preset, but you'll listen to that frequency also until you
release the SKIP button.

Also, you do need to manually select WIDE each time!

I've had the same model since 1986 and still working perfectly.

If someone has these instructions and understands them thoroughly,
I'd sure appreciate a little help. I just picked one up from eBay.

On Page 15, it gives instructions "To check the memory while
receiving a station. Keeping the skip key pressed, press the MEMORY
PRESET keys in turn. The memorized frequencies appear on the display
in turn, while the station remains received..." When I do this, I
hear whatever is broadcasting on the Memory Preset key I select, not
the station I am receiving while pressing the Skip key. Then when I
release the keys, I jump back to the held station as described, but
I do not hear this station at each memory preset. Is that how it's
supposed to work. Those instructions are confusing....I hope this
question isn't

Secondly, when selecting a broadcast band to scan (preset at the
factory) the scan always comes up with the NARROW filter selected.
Is there any way to change this to WIDE. The example they show on the
bottom of page 13 (left column) shows 9400.00 and WIDE. I never get
WIDE, I always have to change it from NARROW and it's annoying.

Thanks for the help. This is one fine radio.
