Just spent the week on the west coast of Vancouver Island DXing... well
trying to. Most nights it was wicked (that's a bad thing!) - way too
much hum and/or white noise as reported.
If anyone is aware of the Tofino/Ucluelet area you know that there's
absolutely nothing between it and Japan. Don't understand the problem.
Puzzling!
Out of the blue one night I did get Radio Denmark clear as a bell, then
it drifted. Perhaps the ionosphere isn't dead - it's just taking a
break!

Yeah, things have been quieter in New Zealand than usual. It's summer here
and we can usually here tons of US and South American and Australian CB DX.
But only on the odd day lately.
Maybe the ionosphere has been discontinued, due to lack of funding?

Just south of Seattle and I'm having the same as the rest. Except the
BBC on 5975, 6135 some nights, very weak on 6005 in the local
evenings. I also hear R. Netherlands some nights very well for their
hour at 8:00 local time (I believe).
It seems like everything above the 5/6MHz band is just plain GONE in
the evenings.
