Paris, France
Went hiking ( Moderate hikes ! ) with a British Hiking group ( Holiday
Ramblers) in your lovely country twice, once in The Grenoble / Vercours area
( St Agnan en Vercours) , which was a center of the French resistance in WW II
& then again in Corsica; ( out of Calvi) home of " The French Foreign Legion"
both times I was equipped with a Small Shortwave radio;, which showed me it's
true value on that trip.
Everyone there was kind to us, even giving us a lift once when my wife & I were
totally lost in the rain
& could hardly speak the language.
The moderate lunch we had that day in " La Chapelle en vercours" was quite
memorable. Our hike leader ( Dr John) was a retired British Physician; he knew
all the good restaurants & hiked 12 miles per day;
we usually took the easy out after lunch up in the hills.
Sit in a Cafe, drinking Citron Presse, & waiting for the bus to come pick us
up.
All Quite civilized & quite memorable.
I have Never seen more spectacular scenery; well worth the climbs
We hope to get back to your country someday ( Finances providing) after
everything
settles down.
