You can try it, it won't hurt anything, but the TV antenna is for UHF unless
it is very old, and since FM is a longer wavelength (VHF), it needs a larger
antenna. On the other hand, just having some metal in the attic may work
better than the present antenna. Give it a try, and if it is
unsatisfactory, replace the TV antenna with a FM antenna.

Hello,
Judging by your posts (I didn't understand one) this might seem obvious
but
I'm no radio expert.
I want to improve the FM reception in the house for my new DVD player
(Sony
DAV SC5 - excellent sound) and plan to run a co-ax cable to the attic.
There is a spare tv arial up there from the previous owner. Will that be
of
any use or should I buy a dedicated FM arial, and if so what should I look
for? I am in Scotland and the house is two storey so the attic is quite
high up.
Thanks in advance.
