story behind and the reasons for this whole

As you know, anyone can have their 15 minutes of
fame on any one of 1000's of newsgroups and Usenet
Channels, rec.radio.shortwave being no exception.

This thread however has captivated my attention, inasmuch as
there seems to be both much participation therein by many
individuals, and because it seems that the great preponderance
of the same are either 2 cans short of a six-pack or
2 lug nuts short of a rear wheel axle fastening device....
.....so-2-speak...

So, if it is possible, knowing that this is a short-wave
and ham radio related NG [which therefore predisposes
participation by many cloistered and overweight radio
hobbyists with bad attitudes] can someone out there
give us rrs lurkers a complete history of just WTF
this crap is all about?

(At the very least this story should be just as
good as the old 14.313 Maritime Mobile Net War
and the 'Mike and Judy Show' - remember that one?
Those goofball ham radio op's and their quirky
ways about life are always good for some
