Greetings,
Can anyone tell me what the proper fly lead length is for an Outbacker
Perth Plus antenna? It's the lead that connects to ground. I have
already been to the Terlin Aerials website and emailed them twice,
with no response. Thanks in advance.
You want it as short as is practical, to minimize stray inductance.
If I recall correctly, the instructions were to plug the connector
into the NC jack, measure the wire-to-ground so that it would be taut
when connected to the grounding point, and then move the connector
from NC to GROUND. This results in a fly lead which has enough slack
to allow a spring mount to flex without ripping the connector out of
the plug, but not enough extra length to add sufficient stray
inductance to de-tune the antenna.
