Major Press Release?

Mike Maghakian wrote:

The week of February 1 will go down in history as the week the Sony
ICF-2010 was remade into a world class portable by Mike Maghakian.
Mr. Maghakian has promised to take on the major shortcomings of the
2010, and by eliminating them, take the 2010 to a new level of
excellence never seen before.

On the drawing board are the following projects:

1) BOTH IF filters will be replaced with high quality advanced multi
element metal case ceramic filters, both having extreme shape factors
for superior performance under the worst of conditions.

2) the overweight speaker will be replaced with a much lighter one
having at at least equal audio capabilities and most likely better audio
balance. this will take significant weight off a portable that is simply
too heavy for extensive travel.

3) the battery system will go from a heavy 3 D cell to a very
lightweight high performance 4AA NiMH pack. the new battery system will
provide the voltage necessary for proper Sync functioning while
significantly reducing weight. as an extra benefit, operating cost will
go down by a large factor.

Users around the world should hold their breath as this is the first
real advancement for the 2010 since its release in the mid 80's.
Preliminary test results and research indicate this project will be a
milestone in the understanding of how a portable should be designed.
