No one in their right mind would consider appeasing a fanatic;
- Except, Nevil Chamberlin..

Neville Chamberlain is much misunderstood. When he cut his deal with Hitler,
the British military was weak, and the American military was less ready than
were the American people to jump into a war with Hitler. Chamberlain
recognized the need for time to build up British and American
military strength and resolve before taking on the German war machine.

Of course, he couldn't say anything like that publicly -- hence his "peace in
our time" cover. He didn't believe his own words.

Chamberlain bought Britain the time it needed to eventually win the war. If
Britain had taken up arms in 1938, the Brits would be speaking German today.
