Consider mail order. Universal Radio at www.universal-radio.com is the
first one that comes to mind. Radio Shack carries Grundig brand SW
radios that are made in China by Tecsun. Most Radio Shacks will have the
YB400PE in stock, which is a decent enough radio, but consider mail
order or even Ebay where you can find Chinese distributors selling
Tecsun and other Chinese made radios like the Kaito for bottom dollar.
As for antennas you can try the whip antenna on the radio but if that
doesn't work too well just throw some wire in a tree, run it through a
window, and hook it to the end of the whip.
