I have a Blaupunkt table top tube AM/FM/SW radio. It probably is from
the early 60's. It was given to me by a friend years ago and worked
intermittently. It either had power or it didn't. I ended up replacing
the power cord and that seemed to help for awhile. As we have a small
house and had two kids, this radio got relegated to the garage and
rarely got used. The kids are on their own now and I've moved it back
into the house except it no longer powers up. There used to be a
gentleman in Lincoln who worked on old tube radios, but no longer. I'd
prefer not to take it to a tv/vcr or audio video repair shop. It's like
the time my '68 VW Bug pooped out on me on my way to work and I left it
with the nearby garage. The mechanic, who was many years younger than
the car, couldn't find the battery, didn't really know what the problem
was, but said he'd replace the alternator. Things didn't feel right so
I called the shop where I normally took it to. They had an older guy
who worked part time and only on older, small cars. His comment was,
"Hell, your car doesn't have an alternator." Needless to say the Bug
got towed to him and he had it up and running in no time. Anyway, I'd
like to find someone who is familiar with tube radios. Does anyone know
of such a shop or individual in the Lincoln, Omaha, Nebraska area?
Thanks for any information you can provide.
